IBM announces System i515 Express System and i525 Express Models

IBM announces its latest iSeries offerings - the System i515 Expressand the System i525 Express-specifically designed for small and mediumsized businesses.

Now you can run your own business on a platform thats not only easy to manage and affordable, but also highly reliable.

IBM has answered its critics by introducing two truly low cost entrylevel iSeries models - the i515 and the i525. This announcementattempts to take system i back to it's core values - that is the appealof AS/400: applications, channels and offerings focussed on small tomedium enterprises (SME's).

With i5/OS licensing by user (up to 40 users in the P05 software tier),the model i515 delivers the performance to run the applications thattodays businesses require in an affordable package. Benefits includesecurity and virus resistance to help ensure system reliability and theability to to run i5/OS, Linux and AIX 5L applications on a singlesystem and integrate xSeries servers running Windows.

The System i model i525 focuses on small to medium business needs andsupports a 30 to unlimited i5/OS users (in the P10 software tier) whorequire greater system scalability and partitioning capability than thei515.

Although System i Servers have many loyal users, recent sales have beeninconsistant, if not in slow decline. The Express program is IBM'sattempt to address this.
