IBM has refreshed most of its i5 hardware with the latest POWER5+ processor, which cuts the heat of the chip and revs up performance. This announcement also features significant price breaks at the lower end, including tiered pricing for i5/OS that makes it significantly less expensive at the lower end.

Rochester has announced a valentine for its loyal and growing base of iSeries customers. As expected, IBM is launching new i5 boxes based on the high-octane POWER5+ hardware, along with a revitalized i5/OS packed with enhancements to make a developer's life easier. Hardware and operating system will be generally available on Valentine's Day, February 14.
